June was a huge month for Scuderia Corsa, with back-to-back races on both sides of the Atlantic, and it flew by just like our skilled drivers on the track.
The team’s first stop was Circuit de la Sarthe home to the world’s toughest endurance race, the famed and fabled 24 Hours of Le Mans. The storied track was host for the weekend to the fourth round of the Ferrari Challenge with Matt Kurzejewski (No. 221, FBH) competing in the Trofeo Pirelli-AM, and Eric Marston (No. 126, FBH) and Lisa Clark (No. 121, FBH) competing in the Coppa Shell and Coppa Shell-AM respectively, flying the flag for Scuderia Corsa.
The occasion was witness to a 70-strong field partake in a thrilling race on the legendary circuit, with racers from across the globe battling it out on the tarmac. To his own and Scuderia Corsa’s delight, Matt Kurzejewskishone through all his competitors with a P1 in the Trofeo Pirelli-AM and P4 overall, continuing his winning streak!
Just one-week later Scuderia Corsa were at it again, this time at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, Canada. Representing Scuderia Corsa was Matt Kurzejewski (No. 221, FBH) competing in Trofeo Pirelli, Lisa Clark (No. 121, FBH) competing in Coppa Shell-AM, and Thor Haugen (No. 125, FWL) and Eric Marston (No. 126, FBH) competing in Coppa Shell.
Under stormy, rainy skies the tracks reputation as a cruel mistress proved no exception for this round of the Ferrari Challenge championship with Matt Kurzejewski, leader and polesitter, losing control of his car and into the wall on the backstraight. The setback didn’t last long and Kurzejewski made a stunning return scoring a double P1 overall in both Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2 races; on the final day he overcame the tribulations of the day before and was crowned the Trofeo Pirelli winner at Montreal – talk about a comeback!
Kurzejewski wasn’t the only victor, Ferrari Beverly Hills’ very own Lisa Clark prevailed with 1st place in the Shell-AM division for Qualifying 1 and Qualifying 2 race, and a 1st in the Ladies Shell-AM for the final race, with Eric Marston finishing 3rd in the Shell class.
The next round of the Ferrari Challenge will be in Sonoma from Friday July 21 – 23.
