This Canadian Grand Prix will be unforgettable for Ferrari Beverly Hills client Cary Fischer, who had the great opportunity to experience life as part of the Scuderia Ferrari family, thanks to an auction held in Los Angeles on 10 March. At the event, Ferrari raised 601,000 dollars for the William J Clinton Foundation and the CMMB (Catholic Medical Mission Board) to help in their work assisting those affected by the Haitian earthquake.
The first Ferrari 458 Italia in the United States went for 530 thousand dollars (390 thousand Euros) and Fernando Alonso’s race suit fetched 31,000 dollars. Cary Fisher was one of five hundred guests who attended the event and he put in the winning bid of 41,000 dollars to spend a day, along with his wife, with Scuderia Ferrari at the Canadian Grand Prix. Having travelled from Victorville in southern California, the Fischer couple were delighted with the experience. “I could have bid more because apart from my passion for Formula 1,I felt it was important for me to help the victims of this terrible earthquake.
It’s at times like these that one realises how lucky one is,” he said, before going on to describe his day as a “Ferrari man.” “We were given a great reception and were made to feel part of the Ferrari family. We were shown what goes on in the pit garage and it was a great privilege to have access to an area usually reserved for team members only. On television you don’t realise how many people are involved in a Formula 1 team and how much work goes on behind the scenes.
It was great to talk to everyone, to feel the human side and to see what goes on in the days leading up to a race. It was also special to enjoy lunch in the hospitality area, with great food and to breathe in the atmosphere of the team. I will never forget this day.”
